Basically engineering depended on standards and codes used to design, manufacture, installation & testing.

ACtually standards are documents which provide requirements, specifications, guidelines for, products, processes and services are for their particular purpose.

Every activity involved in engineering has its own particular codes and standards.These standards are predecided based on practically proven things.

Based on the past experience & reslults these statndards have been formed.There are standards available for all the products produced whether these may be mechanical, electrical & electrononic products.Even there are engineering standards & codes for all processes like cleaning, washing, painting,sparaying etc.SOme of the famous standards used are ASTM, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, ISO, OHSHAS atc
