Assume you had a bacterial infection and your doctor prescribed an antibiotic for you. Based on what you have learned about the differences between prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells, propose two potential cellular locations at which the antibiotic could be targeting. Explain your answer.

Two cellular targets the antibiotics are going to act on are:-

1. The first target is the cell wall of the bacteria. The drugs tend to break the cross links present on the peptidoglycan wall and this makes the cell wall of the bacteria weak and permeable which tends to lose its integrity. By attacking the cell wall, antibiotics like penicillin are able to resistant infection.
2. There are some drugs which bind to specific sites on the ribosome and hence inhibit the process of protein synthesis. Without the production of the proteins, the bacteria is not able to perform a number of important and vital functions and hence die
