Can you think of other ways to encourage skill development while not endangering project success?
There are a number of ways to encourage skill development and at the same time not endanger project success . These are :
A. Engaging them in games during lean period of the project or during holidays where staff get together are organised . These games have either problem element or some other very important project related element in them like team development or team building or team motivation or self motivation or peer motivation.
B. Again during lean time organising visits of employees at competitors site or own sites where certain required skills are better and employees can have on the job skill development .
C. Organising very short training programs at the project site by the best experts from project site itself. For example at our company at Uflex we regularly organise training programs of short duration on material handling as we have lot of handling of film rolls .
D. By organising certain techniques like Kaizen or suggestion schemes where employees are asked to self invent new ways of doing things there by improving and developing their own skills themselves .
