Answer:

Comparison

Mechanism of hearing

Hearing is the transduction of sound waves to neural signals through ear. The sound waves from outside enter into outer ear and travels through the external auditory canal , it travels until it reach tympanic membrane, which then stimulates membrane and associated series of auditory ossicles to vibrate. Which results in the motion of stapes and which is close to oval window results in formation of waves in fluids of cochlea , further results in vibration of basilar membrane. Which stimulates sensory cells of organ of corti situated above basilar membrane to send nerve impulse to brain.

Mechanism of balance

The inner ear is mainly consists of two parts they are the cochlea for hearing and the vestibular system for balance. The vestibular system - looped tubes, three in each ear, called the semicircular canals, which form the central area called the vestibule. The vestibular system detects even minute movements of head through special sensory cells. If we make large, fast or time taking movements it will take some time to get back to normal state. This Is the reason why we felt the surrounding spinning after we stop spinning. The vestibular system sends signals to the vestibular nerve, which then further to cochlear nerve and to brain.

In contrast

Hearing loss is part of aging whereas loss of balance is due to trouble in inner ear these two can be related or can cause separately depending on main reason for the problem.
