Perform research on a current aspect of database management. Possible topics include are new applications of databases, stressing the unique features of the database and how it is used. New research into fundamental database technology may include such topics as indexing techniques, improvements in user interfaces or techniques for modelling data. Remember that this research needs to be new within the past 3 years.

Database is referred to as a systematic collection of data. It helps in storing and manipulating the data. The main advantage of a database are as follows

a. Database helps to store huge chunk of data.

b. Database helps to access data quickly.

c. Database helps to remove the duplicate

d. Database helps in securing and maintaining the data easily.

DBMS or database management system is referred to as a collection of program which provides the user to work with the data. It gives user to access the data, fetch report and manipulate it. DBMS helps to manage access to the database. Database applications are used to find data, fetch report, sort data and all. It also helps to perform various mathematical and statistical calculation on data. Database application is mapped with a database programming language to sort out the work complexity. There are different application which we use in daily basis but that are actually different database application. They are as follows

a. Banking - Daily there lakhs and lakhs of transaction throughout the world. All the transaction are maintained properly in a database.

b. Online Shopping - Online shopping has become a mainstream trend in current days. So all the products that are added or sold are maintained through database.

c. Airlines Reservation System - Airline reservation system maintains a DBMS to keep track of the flights booking, status and all.

In database the data which are stored have a respective key which helps to identify it. Indexing helps in retrieving the data efficiently from huge number of data. There are three types of index namely Primary Index, Secondary Index and Clustering Index. And when it comes to the ordering of the index there are two types namely Dense Index and Sparse Index. On the current release of Oracle Database there are many new features like Advance Index Compression, Attribute Clustering, FDA support for CDBs and many more.
