A researcher has calculated gametic frequencies for an
experiment and is quite confused by the results. Can you help the
researcher by determining the coefficient of linkage disequilibrium
from their data (to 2 decimal places)?
The data that they have are:
f(CE) = 0.5872
f(Ce) = 0.1728
f(cE) = 0.1328
f(ce) = 0.1072
Formula for linkage disequilibrium is = (x11)(x22) - (x12)(x21)
In the above problem
X11 = 0.5872
X12 = 0.1728
X21 = 0.1328
X22= 0.1072
Hence LD =( 0.5872*0.1072 )- (0.1728*0.1328)
= 0.0629-0.0229
= 0.04

3)Independent segregation is a test for linkage of loci. Suppose a researcher genotypes a population for alleles at two different loci. The results are: 188 individuals are CT, 159 individuals are Ct, 48 individuals are cT and 74 individuals are ct What is the frequency of the tallele (two decimals)? 4)If you are told 10.0% of the population suffers from a recessive condition, what is the frequency of the dominant allele (rounded to three decimal places)? 5)f the recessive allele,...

A researcher has developed an experiment to measure the activity of an important liver enzyme. She adds the substrate for the enzymatic reaction to the dish of cells, then measures the appearance of the reaction products. The results are graphed as the amount of product on the y axis versus time on the x axis. The researcher noted four sections of the graph. For a short period of time, no products appeared (section A). In section B, the reaction rate...
In a cognitive psychology experiment, the researcher is interested in whether encoding condition has a significant effect on memory for a list of words. She recruits 32 subjects to participate in the experiment. Each recruited subject is randomly assigned to either encoding condition A or encoding condition B. The researcher would like to leave the hypothesis non-directional without predicting which encoding condition would lead to better memory, and she sets the significance level at α = .05 for a two-tailed...

Name Once the data for experiment # 3 has been generated, analyze it. At this point, you already know which of the aldehyde oxidase alleles is dominant and you have six predicted outcomes of crosses. Using this information and the spot assay results, hypothesize as to the actual genotypes of the P generation of these progeny based on YOUR results. (Hints: Look at the ratios of aldehyde oxidase positive test results to negative test results. Compare them to the ratios...

1. A researcher is investigating the health of some plants that have been treated with a chemical to increase their rate of growth. In the problems below, data is given about levels of two different elements in the plants. The data for each element show the levels of the element in the treated plants, and the levels of the element in untreated plants. A.) The nitrogen levels of the treated and untreated plants are given in parts per million in...
