Ethical issues:

The following issues are major concerns when comes to information system security.

Piracy: Now a days, we can get any pirated copy from internet very easily. The software which is developed is being cracked by different people and they kept it on Online. Companies are unnable to identify and stop these pirated versions. Software publishers have established software protection fund to promote anti piracy. Not only software’s, digital content like movies, serials and songs are also pirated and kept in online. As it is increasing day by day, content makers loss their revenue.

Fraud: Financial crime is increasing day by day in this digital era. It means that, People are unknowingly submitting their personal data which is helping attackers to fraud. Here, attackers are using social engineering skills to get sensitive data from users For example, people are unknowingly giving their bank details to the unknown persons in calls or in any other manner, so the result is people loss their money.

Legal issues:

There are different legal issues regarding to information security in different countries.

Privacy:

For example, if you consider Cambridge analytica case, Here the data is collected for one purpose but it is used for political purposes. More than 50 million people affected for this. Facebook was fined for it a lot which impacted their revenue.

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a regulation in EU law. It is based on protected data and privacy for the individual people within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). When a company wants to export the personal data of individual users of Europe to outside of it, it needs to comply with GDPR to transfer the data. GDPR also tells that organization must report any data breaches within 72 hours if there is any huge effect on end users privacy. In case of GDPR violations, organizations may be fined upto 20 million Euro’s or 4% annual revenue.

Recently Google was fined 57 million dollars under french data protection organization watchdog when transparency and consent is considered under GDPR. Google has failed to comply with it when new android users setup their phone.
