Discuss the potential economic and social impacts of political crime.
Political crimes are those that are committed by the politicians who are ion power. They use their power to accumulate wealth and help illegal and unethical activities take place in the country in return of some personal favor. One of the most important things about political crime is that it would affect the economy of a country to a great extent. For example, if a politician in power gets lots of money as bribe and lets a company operate in the country without paying any tax, the state has to spend money for the resources the company uses. There are lots of such instances where the state could incur economic losses. Secondly, it would also affect the society to a great extent. Political crimes are committed for a personal favor which means those who have money and those who are in high social role can influence the system and get away from the punishments using their money and power. This means an ordinary person will have a really hard time fighting for his rights as the one with money would buy even the justice system. Thus, political crimes would have a lasting impact on people and a country’s economy.
