The biggest reason for it would be that swimming takes the ability to flail around in the water really fast. This makes it comparatively easy to master the skills. But golfing takes a lot of brain use and practice with strategies. So age-related factors may have the strongest influence on observational learning use among golfers. That is the reason that Elite swimmers reach their peak in their 20s, while the best amateur and professional golfers are at their best in their 30s.
