1.In the practice of nursing, there will be many times when you don't want to take care of a patient for many different reasons. What about the man brought into the ED from the local halfway house who is there because he's a sexual predator just out of prison and was convicted after raping a child? Or a convicted murderer? Or a homeless person who stinks and is combative towards the nursing staff? A man who beats his wife? The alcoholic who has been in to your clinic 18 times in the past 3 months but continues to drink heavily and refuses help to stop? These scenarios are all ones I have had myself, and they're not easy. The bottom line is that we need to think about how we will handle these situation before we actually experience them. Do you believe every human being, regardless of who they are and what they may have done, is deserving of competent nursing/medical care and professional caregivers who treat everyone with the best care? Or are some people unworthy of nursing/medical care and compassion? How can you, as a nurse, treat this type of patient compassionately, competently and professionally while still having the normal feelings some of these situations would bring up in us? How could you best handle these situations? What things, persons, or situations would prevent you from being compassionate? What are they? How could you overcome these to show compassion?

- 2- This is from my life experience. - I was taking care of a 50 years old gentleman, who lost his consciousness fuser an accident. While caring him, I used to etmenicabe all the happenings wround him. During his frolonged hospitalization, he lost his vision and then he was transferred to A affee gaining consions! another world! After some days, he was derought back to our department for dialysis. Nothing the voice, he called me vand enquired about my wellness and thanked me for taking care of him. I was surprised vand ovejoyed lay his statement. That motivated me to provide still more better care to the hatients.
