What is the current design of your job? Assume that the opportunity arose for you to utilize the idiosyncratic deals (i-deals) in redesigning your job. What would you do to make your job inherently more motivating? How would you design the feedback and reward systems in the new job? Be sure to include comments on two content theories and two process theories and highlight the significance of each theory.

Currently I am working as a freelancer for two three jobs and I am looking out for full time job opportunity. In this I am also looking out for I-deals. I am rather asking for such deals.

For e.g. I am ready to do any additional work if any kind of flexibility is given to me, such as work from home remote working, since my kid is also small and I am ready to log in kind of 24*7, on weekends if needed. This would motivate me to work harder as organization has fulfilled my demands of offering me enough flexibility to work. For the feedback and review system I would more calculate the readiness offered to me for remote working. If I am employer I would design satisfactory parameters based upon the rating scale of 1-5. This rating scale would include opportunities given by organization, or the adaptable approach of the employer and also expectations from the employee. The feedback system would be simple and not complicated like 360 degree feedback etc.. The one who does best for the organization would be rewarded.

Content theories and theories of motivation, it focuses of needs which motivates any person. The most famous theory of Maslow that is hierarchy of needs, that is satisfying needs in order motivates a person. Hence here when safety self esteem and self actualization needs are covered then there can be very well I-deals. Another theory is two factor theory which is about hygiene factors and motivators. Hence hygiene factors should be well such as pay, job security, physical working conditions and motivators like recognition, new growth opportunities would help in receiving good positive feedback.

Process theories motivates any person when the behaviour is up to the level of satisfaction. Two theories like operant conditioning - where the bad behaviour is punished and good behaviour is rewarded. Hence here even when flexi timings are given if a person misuses it then there would be escalation and if a person makes best use of it then he would be rewarded.

Equity theory - here employees compare about what benefits they are receiving and how is the behaviour compared to employees at same level.
