Answer #1

The HR department in a company is taken with personnel management; it involves the recruitment of talent and its development. For a company, training an employee could mean a period of low output since the employee would first be trained and then allowed to work in the system. On-the-job training removes this lack of productivity and replaces it with a newer technique where individuals with some level of experience with the work can start performing their tasks while they are being given the necessary training. On the job, therefore, refers to learning the ins and outs of the situation while performing the essential functions. On the job training is a good option for companies that cannot spend large amounts of capital investment on training their employees while incurring a loss of period of productivity. A single supervisor can look after the training of their employees while they are performing their tasks, allowing for a higher level of productivity during this training period.

The most common pitfalls of on the job training are the lack of experience of the supervisors and how they commit to the learning process of their employees. Therefore, in most cases, we should select a mentor based on their skills and credibility with the employees for them to more intimately monitor and correct the employees whenever necessary. Since it is a rushed process, it might be beneficial to have an evaluation period where the output and efficiency are measured by following metrics that were recorded continuously during a set period. Proper training in safety procedures should be the most crucial concern before beginning the training process to safeguard against accidents and, therefore, legal liability. We also need to make sure the other employees performing their tasks are not disturbed, and therefore, workforce planning is a necessary outlook in this process.
