Answer #1

In terms of wealth Asian Americans are more or less equal to the Whites compared to Africans who mostly have less wealth . But when it comes to racism in cultural difference, especially in the music field, the Asian Americans face the same danger as Africans. This is because of the yellow peril or yellow discourse by the Whites. Asian American music is the term given for the music of Asian immigrants in America. This was started in mid of 19th century by Chinese immigrants out of their love for Cantonese opera. Later Japanese immigrants also entered into the field with Manzanar Jive Bombers and other band performances. Later in the 20th century many Asian artists from different countries moved to United States with their traditional music or fusion.

The Yellow discourse is nothing but the fear of the Western world that the Asian people are danger to them, that the West will be overpowered by the occult or dark forces of East. This fear has resulted in the claim of Western classical music as an international language by the Western communities which remains as a myth. Publicity is the attention given to a person or an activity or performance by media. The yellow discourse has resulted in a confusion as to who has to perform for whom.
