HRD or Human Resource Development is the continuing process of assessing and helping people and the employees to acquire competencies, capabilities and skills so as to ensure that their skills are being channelised and are useful to the organisation in terms of both future as well as present organisational conditions or the levels. This process also helps the employees to understand and know about their own abilities about their strengths and weaknesses better so that they can proactively utilise them and also fulfill their expectation both personal as well as professional. Human Resource Development has certain needs in the organisations which are mentioned below:

  • Growth of organisation: Human resource development has the critical importance to help the organisation prosper and grow in the dynamic environment. By enhancing the most critical asset of the organisation, the company tries to gain the growth and sustainable opportunities for the organisation as well as the individual.
  • Renewing itself to become more effective: By taking the advantage of HRD practices and roles, a company tries to renew itself and become a better in this dynamic industry. By engaging and developing the key skills of the personnel, a firm tries to attain the highest level of itself by bettering itself everyday.
  • Improving the systems and services of an organisation: By employing more and more skills in the organisations, people and the resources, a firm tries to gain the advantages of differentiation by improving the systematic way or woking and providing the best services to the customers in the market.
  • Change and becoming more dynamic: HRD techniques also helps to motivate and influence the employees. It makes the employees to understand the changes in the organisation and thus reduces the resistance of the employees in learning new ideas and concepts of development.
  • Playing leadership and managerial role: At last, HRD plays a critical importance in leading and motivating the employees to become better leaders in the future. By enriching the personnel with the key managerial skills, a firm tries to make future leaders for the organisation.

Objectives that a firm tries to achieve by implementing such strategic needs for the organisation are:

1. Sustainability: By using HRD and its techniques for the growth of the firm, an organisation tries to achieve the levels of sustainability for its future operations and activities. Sustainable levels of achievement can be unlocked only by strategically managing the employees and utilising them for he utmost benefits and needs to have future goals of the organisation.

2. Strategic Competitive Advantage: By equipping the employees with the key managerial skills and activities, a firm tries to gain the competitive advantage by enriching the employees with the most competitive skills and abilities which helps the firm to gain differentiation and thus making it a market leader in the industry.
