Wireless LAN off-loading or Wi-fi off-loading or WLAN off-loading is a technique used by network providers or wireless carriers to reduce the data usage on mobile phone smart phone by making the mobile phones use data from wireless network as much as possible i.e, offloading data traffic onto Wifi networks which is called as Wi-fi offloading. When number of mobile phone users increased in number mobile phones became the main stream internet using devices so the network carries suffered a network capacity issue decreasing the network speed and reliability so they thought Wi-fi offloading is a better solution is less expensive solution to maintain the network capacity of their carries so companies even restricted to use mobile data for some apps like Facetime etc. and it became an app that could run on Wi-fi only.

Importance: Wirless LAN off-loading is a very efficient solution to network providers or carries and it reduces the usage of data on cellular devices by automatically connecting to the nearby free networks when they are in range and seamlessly switch back to mobile data when they are out of range this maintaines the network capability and stability there by increasing the network speed and realiability.
