Answer: When a patient undergoes the chemotherapy, he suffers pain, that pain is managed by giving opioids. The opioids acts as analgesic and provide relief to the patient. The opioids are generally given half and hour before the chemotherapy. But at present the opioids that is used for pain relief also causes opioids crisis. As people are using it for the drug abuse, the main purpose of the opioids is to act as a pain killer but it is now being abused.

Though it has turned a much-needed spotlight on the over-prescription of these medications, it is overshadowing their under prescription among people who really need them, especially those with cancer. There are number of deaths due to opioids misuse but this is the reason that are not classified as an opioid related death.

The public health implications of not classifying deaths by opioids misuse are misuse of prescription using opioids causes opioids crisis. People should avoid the misuse of the prescription for the opioids abuse. It is not always confirm that the opioids was taken for misuse or for pain relief.
