Which of the following statements about the endosymbiotic theory is false?

Which of the following statements about the endosymbiotic theory is false?

The entire genome of the ancestral bacteria has been preserved in present-day mitochondria and chloroplasts.
The ancestral bacteria, from which mitochondria and chloroplasts are derived, were capable of photosynthesis and aerobic respiration.
Mitochondria and chloroplasts arose independently from free-living bacteria.
Eukaryotic cells engulfed the ancestral bacteria from which mitochondria and chloroplasts are derived, and the two entities formed a symbiotic relationship.

Answer #1

Answer:- The correct answer is" The entire genome of the ancestral bacteria has been preserved in present day mitochondria and chloroplast.

Because the entire genome of the ancestral bacteria has been not preserved in present day mitochondria and chloroplast.

Endosymbiotic theory state that mitochondria and chloroplast originated from the prokaryotic cells.

According to endosymbiotic theory , the mitochondria and chloroplast may be considered as intra- cellular parasites of the cells which have entered in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells in early evolutionary days , and have maintained the symbiotic relations with the eukaryotic cells.

The mitochondria are supposed to be originated from the bacterial cells( purple bacteria) while chloroplast are supposed to be originated from the blue green algae.

Serial Endosymbiotic Theory (SET) was proposed by Dr. Lynn Margulis (then Lynn Sagan) in the 1960s by drawing on experimental evidence from multiple disciplines. Which of the following statements is consistent with SET? Explain. a. SET suggests that the ancestral prokaryote was chimeric in nature due to the horizontal fusions of distinct prokaryotic species; this hypothesis complicates the theory of linear descent as outlined by Darwin. b. d. Chemoheterotroph 12. Which of the following statements is NOT true about primary endosymbiosis, and the evolution of Domain Eukarya? a. It involved a larger ancestral cell engulfing a smaller prokaryote and forming a symbiotic relationship. It likely happened twice during the evolution of eukaryotes: once for the formation of mitochondria and once for the formation of chloroplasts. Evidence that primary endosymbiosis occurred includes the fact that mitochondria and plastids have a double-membrane system. d. During the process of primary...
