Incremental Decision-Making Model

As the name suggests, incremental decision-making models involve decision which is taken and applied

in stages as opposed to a broad sweeping change in the way things are done. A good

example of this would be

John Kotter’s model of change consists of the following steps

Creating Urgency

To form a strong coalition

To set a Vision and the need for Change & To communicate the Vision :

To get rid of obstacles

To create short term wins

This model of change management attempts to implement an incremental change.

Carnegie Decision Making Model

The Carnegie Decision Making Model is ideally used when there are multiple parties or stakeholders involved with conflicting interests., objectives, opinions, and perspective of the situation. A good example would be a negation between a manufacturing firm's labor unions and its

human resources department about hourly wages during a strike.

The Carnegie Decision Making Model works when there is uncertainty, conflict. Post which a coalition is formed with the involved stakeholders and a decision is reached with the help if joint consensus and compromise.
