Analysis and requirement elicitation are different.

Elicitation should be done before the analysis phase.

Elicitation: The method or the procedure to discover the potential or prospective user, buyers, customers and stakeholders of the system. Asking questions from the users, stakeholders, buyers etc,

Simply the meaning is gathering requirements.

Analysis: Method of reasoning or questioning the elicited requirements.

Simply the meaning is organizing and forecasting the gathered requirement for possible implementation.

Analyzing the questions obtained in the elicitation phase.

Analysis implicates actions like

  • investigative requirements
  • linking associated requirements
  • the conflicts or discrepancies of the requirements
  • recognizing misplaced requirements.
