Answer #1

I think this statement is misleading because, if they have calculated the amount of heat, then how did he calculate as the skillet was on stove it gives dynamic heating and not static so heat will continue increase. so how did he predicted 300000 Joules ?

    4. Your research adviser hands you a 3-component mixture and tells you to separate them using column chromatography. You already have some lab savvy so you know to test first by tlc to see if you can find a good solvent system for your column. Shown below are your first 2 developed plates and the solvent systems used. Obviously neither system is appropriate, but you now have a good idea of what to try next (you really, really understand this...

Imagine you have a hot reservoir at a temperature of 89.0 °C, and cold reservoir at a temperature of 15.0 °C. Given their vast size, it is reasonable to assume the reservoirs\' temperatures will not change significantly if heat flows into or out of them. These reservoirs are then brought into thermal contact, during which 39210 J of heat flows from the hot reservoir to the cold reservoir. As a result of this heat exchange, what is the total change...

Suppose it is a particularly hot summer day and you want to make some popsicles to help cool off. You fill a popsicle mold with 0.15kg of juice (suppose it is the same thermal energy as water). The juice starts out at a temperature of 30 °C and the freezer will cool it to -20  °C. a. How much heat must be removed from the popsicles in order to bring them to their final temperature. b. Draw an energy flow diagram...

Your 200g cup of coffee is boiling hot (100 degrees celcius). You throw in 50g of -15 degrees celcius of ice to cool it off. Assuming negligible heat leaves the coffee-ice system during this process, what is the final temperature of your coffee? (The specific heat capacity of ice is 2.03 J/(g degree C and the specific heat capacity of water is 4.18 and the latent heat of melting for ice to water is 334J/g).

Your house has lost electricity and natural gas. Luckily, you still have running water but the idea of an ice cold shower doesn’t appeal to you.
