Why is it important to keep biological samples, such as viruses, as cold as possible when isolating and transporting them?
Ans= As in normal temperatures the cellular machinery will continue functioning and as a result the cell will and transportation may take time, in such situations the cell will die in its time or the nutrients where the organism is stored will deplete due to its metabolic activity resulting in the lysis of the cell. Also if not stored in cold temperatures the nucleic acids or proteins may start degrading due to high temperatures or the cell may also die due to fluctuations ion temperatures while transportation.
Also during isolation we need to maintain cold temperatures because the cellular mechanisms must be stopped for the isolation of nucleic acids from the cell or else it will break or denature. Cold storage is also required to maintain the viability of the cells for a longer period of time.
