Answer #1

Answer: Mutations are basically the change in the genetic makeup. This change in genetic makeup leads to change in allele frequency which changes the Gene frequency, ultimately new genes and genetic combinations occur. They produce the new characters. It's the mutation which leads to biological variation. Mutations are the main source for biological variations.

Variations are important because they act as the main force for evolution. New traits which come in due to evolution. Through natural selection either the frequency of new variations increase or decrease in the environment. If they are favourable there frequency will be increased and if not they will be eliminated. Variations also have an important role because they better adapt an organism in new environment and help in the survival of population.
