Please Find a case in your workplace to apply DMAIC process for improving the qualuity/process/etc
DMAIC is an abbreviation for Define, Measure, Analyse , Improve, Control
The case in my workplace is to optimize the consumption of adhesive during the lamination process.
Define- The excessive consumption of adhesive during lamination increases cost and time in drying in the process
Measure- Measure the grammage of adhesive per square meter of the area of the films which are being glued together by calculating the weight of dry films and after gluing .the difference would be the weight of adhesive being applied.
Analyze- Analyze with the specifications of the adhesive, machine parameters, and standard adhesive mileage it can give as per type of films on which it is being applied. Compare the excess difference by calculating the actual consumption versus standard consumption.
Improve- Adjust the machine parameters and settings as per the standard conditions and check the outputs repeatedly by lessening the release of adhesive till the optimum usage is reached. The optimum usage is the point where the bonding of the films remains intact and quality is not compromised.
Control- The consistent control can be put by repeatedly checking the grammages of adhesives in shift7 to8 times and if any deviation from the standard is observed machine settings and other parameters are to be checked and controlled.
