APPLICATION MAINTENANCE

While in maintenance mode of a system, we want to keep the core design of it working but there will be some enhancements and bug fixes.There will be limited resources including time and staff available to work on the project and thus you will need to prioritize which parts get done.

1. What are some ways you can prioritize between enhancements and bug fixes?

2. How might you rank those changes?

some ways you can prioritize between enhancements and bug fixe are -

1)If their is a case that due to of a bug software or application is getting crashed so that time we should prioritize bugs first and then we should work on enhancements . Bugs are usually solved first and then enhancement are done.

2)If their is some important feature ( enhancement ) that has to be added to application as per the client requirement then we should prioritize enhancement first than bugs has to be prioritze.

3)Bugs bring forth more bugs. So even a bug that clients will never keep running into may have a basic reason or else trigger extra issues that fixing it has a bigger effect than anticipated.

4)Bugs suck up assets in technical support and on the building group. Regularly PMs don't perceive how much beat is brought about by designing groups giving a great deal of asset and setting changing to supporting clients, discharging patches, and so forth.

Ranking of bugs and enchancement depends on the requirement , like if Some important bugs that is crashing the application should be ranked first and then other should be ranked accordingly or if their is some important enchancement required by the client than we have to deliver it by at earliest than we have rank this enhancement first and then other bugs or enhancement should be ranked . So according to me ranking should be prioritize according to requirement in the application.
