  • Yes,I do agree that increased time being spent on social media is decreasing not face to face interactions but also leading people towards suicide.Social media has become the major contributor to us being depressed, constantly trying to please random strangers on social networking sites,by positng pictures, counting the number of likes, posting about one's "cool life",like vacation pictures, restaurant hopping etc.;has all lead to increased mental pressure of being popular.
  • Also befriending people on these sites has also become common, online dating, joining friendship sites etc.has decreased a direct face to face conversations with our family and friends, sitting right beside us.We have created a world for ourselves and have become completely engrossed and obssessed(in most peoples' case) with it,that some of us are losing the understanding of real relationships and sharing our feelings with others.
  • Not having face to face conversation,is making people more sad and depressed, since they are not sharing their feelings and telling their loved ones, how are they feeling, which is leading them to take drastic steps like suicide, because of being overwhelmed by those negative feelings and unable to share them.
  • Also the rise in depression and suicide provides as evidence that the connections social media users form electronically are less emotionally satisfying, leaving them feeling socially isolated. And this social isolation is making them hollow from within, bottling up all those feelings and not sharing it with anyone. The less you are connected with human beings in a deep, empathic way, the less you’re really getting the benefits of a social interaction.
