a): Primitive organisms have simpler body design where advanced orgenisms are more complex in body design.

  • Primitive organisms evolved much early where advanced organisms have evolved recently. The complexity in design of simpler forms has increased over evolutionary time due to which they ultimately become modern complex form. Primitive organisms do not change their body design so easily as advanced organisms do.

    Green algae contain the same carotenoids and chlorophyll a and b as land plants whereas other algae have different accessory pigments and types of chlorophyll molecules in addition to chlorophyll a.

  • Both green algae and land plants also store carbohydrates as starch. A few green algae even survive on soil , provided it is covered by a thin film of moisture in which they can live.

  • Green algae show more traits with land plants than other algae, according to structure and DNA analysis.
