"Norma Rae" is a story based on the life of Crystal Lee Sutton who was a textile worker in North Carolina who was instrumental in the unionization of the textile union.The film is about a factory worker named "Norma" who represents Crystal Lee Sutton in real life.Since her and her family members health gets compromised she gets involved in the protest to get the unionization of the textile workers.She is a single mother with two children by two different fathers one dead and another who is negligent.Since she is involved in the protests the management promotes her to the position of a spot checker so that she would become responsible for the work to be done by her subordinates.Originally she accepts the post since she gets a pay rise without realizing the management tactics to stop her in getting involved in any protests.When her colleagues and even her father questions her for accepting the post she decides to quit the job but the management doesn't accept the job but instead demotes her to her original position.Her father dies of a heart attack at the factory since he was exhausted due to the work pressure and after this incident she becomes more determined to fight and in the end the factory gets unionized as a result of collective bargaining by the workers in the factory.
