Let A and B represent two variants (alleles) of the DNA at a certain locus on the genome. Assume that 40% of all the alleles in a certain population are type A and 30% are type B. The locus is said to be in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium if the proportion of organisms that are of type AB is (0.40)(0.30) = 0.12. In a sample of 300 organisms, 42 are of type AB. Can you conclude that this locus is not in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium? Find the P-value and state a conclusion. Round the answer to four decimal places.

Consider a locus of interest that has two alleles: A and a. A diploid individual carrying these alleles can have one of three genotypes: AA, Aa, or aa; a population will consist of some combination of AA, Aa, and aa individuals. The relatively frequency of each of these genotypes makes up the population's structure. Hardy and Weinberg independently figured out that, in the absence of forces that cause evolutionary change, the population structure will 'settle' or default to equilibrium values,...

MN blood type in humans is determined by two alleles at a single co-dominant locus; these alleles are LM and LN. In a sample of 1190 individuals , it was found that: 75 had type M blood (LMLM) 800 had type MN blood (LMLN) 315 had type N blood (LNLN) Given this population data, calculate the observed allele frequencies and the expected number of individuals of each genotype. For allele frequency reposes, please round to 3 decimal places (ex. 0.000)....

In a population, a locus with 3 alleles (a, b, and c) showed the following genotypic numbers in a sample; aa=0, ab=0, bb=10, ac=0, bc=35, cc=6. Calculate allele frequencies, and determine the expected genotype frequencies under Hardy-Weinberg conditions. Do the genotype frequencies depart from those expected by the HWE? If not, what indicates this conclusion? If there Is a deviation from the HWE expectation, what is a likely explanation? In a population of mice a particular locus has two alleles A1 (dominant) and A2 (recessive). There are 126 A1A1, 167 A1A2 and 88 A2A2. Is this population in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (3 pts)? In a population of Gragons, there are 3151 A1A1, 1678 A1A2 and 2014 A2A2 individuals. If the environment changes so that the homozygous recessive genotype suffers a reduction of fitness where its fitness is now 0.73, but the other genotypes are unaffected, what will be the frequency...

explaim the mechanisms amd toxological effects if type 1 diabetes in this article Exposure to arsenic in drinking water is associated with increased prevalence of diabetes. We previously reported an association of diabetes and urinary concentration of dimethylarsinite (DMAS"), a toxic product of arsenic methylation by arsenic (+ 3 oxidation state) methyltransferase (AS3MT). Here we examine associations between AS3MT polymorphism, arsenic metabolism and diabetes. Fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance and self-reported diagnoses were used to identify diabetic individuals. Inorganic...
