Primary or initial mycelium has only 1 haploid nucleus. This nucleus divide and formation of a septa occurs. Two primary mycelium fuse together to form secondary mycelium which contains two haploid nucleus, one from each parent.
So primary mycelium is monokaryotic while secondary mycelium is dikaryotic.
