Jazz is a form of music with several elements and styles, and the early jazz was the origin of its form (1920-1930). It is also known as New Orleans and considered the classical music of America by many.
Basic characteristics of the "Early Jazz."
• Utilization of collective polyphony(improvisation)
• Melody based improvisations
• The front line of trumpet, clarinet, trombone
• Tunes that were earned usually by ear
• Mainly ensemble playing
• Simple harmonies
• Use of several dramatic effects such as smears, trills, vibrato and muted influenced by existing vocal tradition
Ragtime, Blues, Jubilee and Spiritual, Bamboula, Habanera and Tresillo Rhythms, Vaudeville, Brass and Military Marching, Classical and Opera style are the styles that contributed to Early Jazz.
