These both are the epidemiological model for diseases which are a mathematical model of infectious diseases.

1. SIR disease model -

  • This computes the number of susceptible, infected, and recovered people in a population.
  • This model has three compartments for the disease like mesels, mumps, rubella. those are susceptible, infectious and recovered it means the population progress from susceptible to infectious to recovered.
  • this confers long-lasting immunity.

2. SIS disease model -

  • This model has only two compartment one is susceptible and 2nd is infectious.
  • This model is appropriate for diseases that commonly have repeat infections like common cold and influenza.
  • In this model infected individuals return to the susceptible class on recovery because the disease confers no long-lasting immunity.
