Autopilot:
-it is an automated flight control in a plane
-autopilot mode works along with FMS(flight management system) and area navigation (RNAV) to make a fairly automated form of the plane.
-The brain of the Autopilot is FD(flight director)
-the FD works with installations that present in the plane
-it recieves the data from the ADC(air data computer)&AHRS
-autopilot mode can automate the tasks ,such as maintaining the altitude, guiding the air crew between the way points etc..
some features of autopilot:-
HEADING HOLD
-this setting sets the desired direction
HEADING AND NAVIGATION
--This setting will hold the direction as well as the navigation
ALTITUDE HOLD
-This setting holds the desired altitude given by the pilot
INSTRUMENT APPROACHES
This type of Autopilot will fly preprogrammed instrument approaches.
Process:
-we require the desired track as defined by heading, course, series of way points, altitude, airspeed, vertical speed for autopilot.
-after that we have to verify all the given requirements.
-verify that the track is being followed by the air craft.
-verify the correct navigation system.
-and allow the FD.
-We can see the speed, altitude, vertical speed in the PFD(primary flight display).
-determination and catching the control movements is necessary to reach goal.
-and it follows the rout programmed in FMS(flight management system)
-it has GPS steering (GPSS) Function
-we can also follow the VOR radians by changing the settings
-FD controls the process ,once the way point is reached then it sets to the next way point .
