Answer #1

Ans. Enzyme catalyzed reactions are affected by many factors. The main factors affecting the rate of these reactions are temperature, pH, inhibitor, concentration of the substarte etc.

Temperature:- Velocity of the enzymatic reaction increases upto certain optimum temperature. Enzymes generally function in a narrow range of temperature. Each enzyme show its highest activity at the optimum temperature. As a rule , a typical reaction rate approximtely doubles for every 10 degree celcious rise in temperature but upto a certain value of temperature. After this temperature , the enzymes get denaturated and enzymes activity get lost. Thus both high and low temperature effects the enzymes activity.

pH :- Enzymes are very sensitive to the pH. Most enzymes are active within only a narrow range, typically 5 to 9. This pH dependance is due to the presence of the charged amino acid at the active sites. Variations in the pH cause changes in overall changes in overall charge of amino acids. And catalytic activity depends upons the specific ionization state of the amino acids. Hence pH effects the rate of reaction .

Inhibitors :- These also decrease the rates of the enzymatics reactions. These are of different types.
