Answer #1

ANS- Duane is exhibiting anchoring and adjustment heuristic to Kate and availability heuristic to Miguel.

He is exhibiting this heuristic /bias to make decisions quickly.

Duane is exhibiting anchoring and adjustment to Kate because it can be seen from the scenario that when Duane saw that Kate has been tardy to work on two occasions the past month he marked her down based on this although she has never been tardy to work in the entire three years prior to that month. Anchoring and adjustment heuristic is used when one predicts an unknown value based upon one value which they come across and they use it as reference to predict everything.

Duane is exhibiting availability heuristic to Miguel because it given in the scenario that Miguel was graduated from the University of Lorton and Duane remembered that another employee who graduated from the university of Lorton and he was a great leader so based upon this Duane gave high marks to Miguel. Availability heuristic is used when remembers some examples and base their decision on that example.
