I am taking an INTRODUCTORY Windows OS scripting course and could use your help in completing this homework assignment:

I need to make sure that my batchfile directory is automatically included in the search path every time I open a command prompt window.

My answer must be a step-by-step explanation (bulleted or numbered list) of the EXACT approach I took to complete this task.

I must also provide an explanation of EXACTLY how I tested this to make sure it worked.

If I create a batch file to complete this problem I must, in addition to setting the search path within the batch file, clear the screen and I must include the content of the batch file as part of my answer.

If I change system properties to complete this problem I must provide screenshots to confirm my settings.

In either case, I am to assume that someone that doesn't know how to do this will follow my instructions to complete the steps.

• I am using batch file to complete this problem.

Steps:

1. First create a directory "BatchFileDirectory" where batch files will be stored and create  a batchfile.bat file in it as an example to test.
2. Now to set search path for this directory create a batch file to set the path, when it runs.
3. content of setpath.bat file

setx /M PATH "%PATH%C:\BatchFileDirectory"

4. Run the setpath.bat file as administrator.

Test:

1. To test this approach, I created a batchfile.bat in the batchfiles directory.
2. content of batchfile.bat

echo "this is my batch file"

3. now open cmd and type batchfile.bat to run the batch file.

4. we can see the output of the batch file execution as "this is my batch file".

5. we can also test by checking the system environment variables path in system properties.
