In 2nd position A is substituted with G.

7th and 8th positions are deleted.

If the 1st sequence is totally different from the 2nd one then the edit distance is at most that much.

If the 1st sequence differs from the 2nd one by at least one change, i.e one deletion or insertion or substitution, then the edit change is at least that much.
