Answer #1

Here we are analyzing the qualitative variables.

One is the living arrangements and other is the satisfaction level say taking levels as not satisfied moderately satisfied and highly satisfied.

We can perform a chi square test of independence between two variables as both are qualitative

Answer #2

To determine the effect of living arrangements on overall satisfaction at the University, the appropriate statistical test would be the Independent Samples T-Test.

The reason for choosing the Independent Samples T-Test is because we are comparing the mean scores of two independent groups (living arrangements) to see if there is a significant difference in their overall satisfaction levels. The variable being analyzed is categorical (living arrangements) with two distinct groups (e.g., on-campus residents vs. off-campus residents), and the outcome variable (overall satisfaction) is continuous and quantitative, assuming it is measured on an interval or ratio scale.

The Independent Samples T-Test is used to assess whether there is a significant difference between the means of two groups and if that difference is not due to random chance. In this case, it will help us determine if living arrangements have a statistically significant impact on the overall satisfaction of the students at the University.

Before conducting the T-Test, it is important to ensure that the data meets the assumptions of normality and homogeneity of variance for both groups. If the data deviates significantly from these assumptions, alternative non-parametric tests such as the Mann-Whitney U test could be considered. Additionally, it is crucial to have a sufficiently large sample size to ensure the validity of the T-Test results.
