Topic: Harnessing Wave and Wind Energy in Sweden and Why wave and wind energy is better than fossil fuels while stating the advantages and disadvantages of wave and wind energy

Abstract: Sweden is planning to run entirely on renewable energy by 2040. One of these renewable energies is wind and wave energy. Wave and Wind energy are one of the most promising alternatives to fossil fuels which have completely polluted the atmosphere by emission of the greenhouse gases. Although wind and wave energy are proven to be feasible sources of renewable energy, they are unfortunately accompanied by a few challenges during construction and operation that have negative impacts. However, wind and wave energy come with many advantages for the economy. This report therefore focuses on the disadvantages and advantages created by the use of wind and wave energy while also giving background information on these types of renewable energies. Studies are analyzed and reviewed with a comparison made between wind/wave energy and fossil fuels after which a conclusion is drawn as to why these types of energies is preferred to conventional energy sources.

Introduction:
Wind and Wave energy have become huge viable electricity sources that economically benefit Sweden, a country which optimizes the use of these renewable energies. Wind energy is the cleanest energy source that does not produce gaseous emissions that can negatively impact the environment. Sweden is planning to run entirely on renewable energy by 2040. One of these renewable energies is Wind Energy; there are approximately 3,600 wind turbines in Sweden. The country's total installed capacity was 6,691 MW from these wind turbines. Sweden is planning to use wind power to replace its nuclear energy facilities to lead a healthier life and create a stable environment. The wind isn’t the only natural source of energy that Sweden uses but the ocean’s waves are also very efficient. Making use of the immense power of waves is still something that needs to be researched and tested in order to learn more about this way of producing renewable energy, however, the Swedish energy agency created one of the largest wave power demonstrations in the world and is creating progress in the use of wave power. Sweden is becoming one of the few countries making great contribution to the next generation energy production. As the technology progresses more and more, new development is made yearly. There are a few negative impacts made that go unnoticed but also positive impacts that are showcased. This paper looks deeply on the challenges and the opportunities of the wind and wave energy technology and showcases how despite their drawbacks, they are still more efficient than other energy sources such as fossil fuels.

Answer #1

Conclusion: ( Conclusions are points derived from the report itself, simply stating facts)

  • Sweden is planning to run entirely on renewable energy by 2040.
  • One of these renewable energies is Wind Energy; there are approximately 3,600 wind turbines in Sweden, generating 6,691 MW of energy.
  • Sweden is planning to use wind power to replace its nuclear energy facilities to lead a healthier life and create a stable environment.
  • They are also looking into harnessing wave energy, which is being researched and tested.
  • Swedish energy agency created one of the largest wave power demonstrations in the world and is creating progress.

Recommendation: ( Recomendations are mostly personal suggestions from an unique point of view)

  • This is time when the World should not only look into renewable energy resources, but actually put them into practice.
  • Sweden is coming up with their own ways of a sustainable clean energy options.
  • As a country, Sweden lies in the higher latitudes and experience strong winds and stronger ocean wave currents. They are prudently using these natural elements into good use, as should other countries must do.
  • World economy still rides high on fossil fuels. Nuclear energy is not sustainable in its' present reseached state. At this juncture, the steps takem by Sweden are very welcoming to say the least.
