Parallax method is not useful for very far object. Beyond few thousand light year this method is not useful.

radar measurement is useful only for solid object.

Cepheid variables are excellent distance measurement our from our galaxy.

Mapping the distribution of globular clusters in our galaxy can give distance from center of galaxy to us.
