Answer #1

Both the print and broadcast media and especially television are flooded with violence on media. Many violent serials and news are being aired on television which promotes violence amongst the viewers. It has been observed that there would be a deep impact on children when they watch violence on television such as :

  • Children may become less sensitive to the suffering and pain of others
  • Children become quite scared of the surroundings around them
  • They are more likely to behave in an aggressive and harmful ways towards other people.

Violent serials and news on television give new ideas to the criminals and thus the rate of crime increases considerably. It has been observed that in India the rate of crime and the ways of doing crime has increased considerably after the popularity of Crime Patrol. The method of violence is in the form of hitting each other with powerful weapons, rape, murder and killing of innocent people. It promotes the illegal activities in the environment.

The most popular media used for such purpose is television, video games and internet. Public watch crime serials and news on television and follow the same in their day to day life. Moreover, internet acts as a strong platform for these violent activities as nothing is censored on internet and everything is readily accessible by everybody. Video Games is even more powerful source of violence as the user is not only a viewer but actually a doer, so the chances of adopting violent practices are more.

In order to curb such practices :

Strong legal action should be taken to stop telecasting violent activities on media

Proper screening of the programs and events before it is aired on media

Censor board should be strong enough at the time of giving permission

Certain level of awareness towards violence and other malpractices should be created amongst the users and viewers.
