Ethics: A Personal Perspective, Part II In your first Learning Activity for week 1 you discussed some things that come to mind when you think of the word “ethics”. Over the course of the past 8 weeks, has your view or conception of ethics changed in any way? If yes, is there a specific moment you can identify and describe that triggered the change (a reading(s), or posting(s), discussion(s) with colleague(s) for example)? If your view or conception did not change, why do you think this is the case? How can what you learned in the course be applied in your professional and/or personal life?

In general, Ethics is a code of conduct which tries to define and differentiate what is morally wrong or right, bad or good. Ethics shows human character and their belief system. Personal ethics depicts a personal perspective on various areas of life such as family, friend, relationships e.t.c. Ethics can be used in every part of an action, thought, and expression.

When I heard about the term 'Ethics' during my first week of learning activity, I think of what is morally right or wrong based on my belief system and social values. I try to comprehend how to make an ethical decision under the dilemmatic situation. Through an example, I try to explain how my personal perspective changed over the course of 8 weeks regarding the conception of ethics.

I think that ethics is all about acting in such a way which can not become a cause for harm to anyone. It should be a rationale but at the same time, it should be morally right. Around two months ago, I was walking through a park where I found a 2000 rs. note on the ground. I decided that I should give the money to a needy one. So, I gave the money to a beggar who had a 6-year child with himself. He told me that this money will help in getting his child admission in school. I was very happy and fulfilled with joy after seeing the smile on the child's face. Around two months later, I again saw the same beggar with his child in the same park where I use to visit very occasionally. I was shocked that the child was also begging with his father. I went to him and asked their father regarding their admission in school (As he told me that the money which I gave him will help in getting their child admission). He kept silent. The child replied my father use to play gambling, where he lost the money I gave to him. That incident had totally changed my perspective regarding the ethics and their approachability in the day to day life.
