In world politics, there are trends that offer most Americans grounds for optimism: for example, ISIS has suffered serious defeats on the battlefield. there are also trends of a different sort: for example, it’s been argued that the “liberal world order” is decaying. In a thoughtful essay, please discuss seemingly positive and seemingly negative trends. Please touch on matters of international law and human rights as well as violence and other forms of conflict. “Progress is possible,” our text says in its last paragraph—but how vast is the progress needed?

Answer #1

Seemingly positive trends seen across world politics are decline in corruption and injustices because of voice of common people. People are focusing on human rights and law being equal for all as recently demonstrated in the case of queen of england boycotting dubai ruler because of his abhorrent discrimination against his own female family members. Only when rulers and common people unite to fight injustices than wrongs turn right in this world.

However there are negative trends as well because of capitalism which is leading to increase in corruption level and power being given to few top people which increases corruption and inequality. Governments and states in developing as well as developed markets are not willing to give up power, which has led to widespread fear and communalism.

For progress to occur, there needs to be a comprehensive mechanism to educate people and improve development standards. Refrain from giving power to a handful of people and seek world peace rather then sole growth rate optimisation. Only then can a progressive society appear. Thus at this current stage, still a lot needs to be done to transform a society into a progressive one.
