"When wet hair is set into rollers and the dried ( a "wet set"), the curls leave the hair as soon as it gets wet again. However, when the hair is treated with a permanent wave ( a "perm"), the curl does not leave the hair even when it gets wet again." Which type of bond is involved in a wet set and which is in a perm? When wet hair is set into rollers and then dried followed by wetting it again, curls leave the hair. This is because hydrogen bond which comes in contact with hair due to addition of water breaks the covalent bond established in wet set system. Thus, there is covalent bond involved in wet set.

On the other hand, when hair is treated with permanent wave, the ionic bond is established between hair and wave which is strong enough to not break it easily. Thus, ionic bond is involved in a perm.
