This job of a student is well designed in compliance with the job characteristics model. The primary task or the job of a student is to complete the degree course and obtain the degree certificate. There are five states according to the psychological job characteristics model including

1) Skill variety – skill sets obtained by performing a range of tasks

2) Task identity – ability to complete the task from beginning to end

3) Task significance – the impact of the task on other activities

4) Autonomy – the extent of freedom and discretion available to an employee in a job

5) Feedback – performance effectiveness

JCM suggests that the states lead to positive outcomes for the individual (employee) and the organization through high-quality performance, high level of motivation, a higher level of job satisfaction, lower turnover of staff and lower levels of absenteeism

The one thing that JCM contributes to the job or duty of a student is the “Task Identity” State. This state is in accordance with the student completing the degree course from the beginning to the end – the primary task of a student

This state contributes to a positive psychological state as obtaining the degree certificate in an award ceremony with chief guests and dignitaries is the first achievement of a student (high level of motivation and satisfaction due to quality performance in studies during the degree coursework). This improves the psychological state of the student and motivates them further in their lives to complete a task in the work environment – the job from beginning to the end in a successful manner
