An individual's leadership style changes when it comes to self direction and discipline in comparison to managing a group. Managing self while at work needs a good degree of introspective skills, identification of the negative factors of self, which hinder achievement of goals or affect productivity negatively. Self management is more difficult as it is more difficult to identify the self weaknesses and finding remedies for them. It needs high intrapersonal skills, honesty and commitment. On contrary, leading a group needs traits like empathy / interpersonal skills, communication and motivational skills, resource management skills and attention for detail among others. In this way, while working alone, a person needs more honesty to self, clarity of throught and opinions and better task orientation to be a good self leader. These traits change to interpersonal, behavioural, communication and resource management skills when it comes to groupwork.
