Answer #1

Consider your personal schema for handling and managing change.

As a middle manager, my personal schema has been identified in week 2 as Coach and Interpreter.     As I will address in the closing sentence.

Do you work with a one-size-fits-all approach to change management?

  • No one size fits all does not work
    • Larger organizations require stability to ensure projected changes are completed in the appropriate steps.
    • Smaller organizations are (often) more easily adaptable to change as the information can be exchanged more easily
    • *However, small departments within a larger organization may be more adaptable to alternative change approaches

To what extent do you adapt your approach to the scale and timing of the change? To your own relative power in the situation? * To other context features as identified and related to change management, processual, and contingency approaches?

I prefer to receive change via thedirective approach.

Receive the 5-Ws (who, what when, where and why)

Begin operations as the change manager as a navigator

                                    Accumulate information

                                    Identify options

                                    Provide directives

Monitor progress

Navigate through change

*change requires constant adaptation to contextual circumstances
