1. Introduction

It has been a topic of research that leadership styles have direct impact on organizational performance in different industries. In banking industry, it is a topic of debate that whether leadership styles have impact on organizational performance or not. However, many evident examples throws light that there is certain relationship between both factors.

1.1. Background of the study:

It is important to identify that what relationship exists between on organizational performance and leadership styles. A direct influence of leadership styles is observed on organizational performance in other industries. This study will focus on determining the impact of leadership styles on organizational performance in a bank.

2. Statement of the problem:

Organizational performances are believed to be highly driven by leadership styles. Leaders play a role model in organizational success. Other employees follow the path that leaders follow. Therefore, Leadership Style should concentrate on motivating and engaging people in taking organization towards achieving its objectives.

Through this strategy we will determine that what impact does leadership styles make on organizational performance in bank.

This study will help leaders in banking sector to understand that which leadership style works best in banking sector.

The research question around which the entire study will revolve will be as follows:

6. Literature Review

Ebrahim Hasan in his study considers leadership amongst the key determinants that are associated with the success and failure of any organization. It is significant from his study that several leadership styles have different impact on organizational performance. It is important for leaders to understand the impact of leadership style on organizational performance.

It is believed that leadership styles have direct impact on culture of organization. The culture in turn is capable of influencing organizational performance. Organizational culture and performance are linked with leadership styles. (Klein, et al., 2013).

7. Methodology

In this study quantitative approach will be applied. In this organizational performance is considered as dependent variable and leadership styles will be considered as independent variable. And the relationship will be determined.

For measuring organizational performance sample size of minimum twenty employees will be required from a reputed bank. Their perception of their organizational performance in comparison to competitor bank can be used as measure of organizational performance.

The data can be collected through questionnaire and personal interview of employees. For measuring the responses five point Likert scale can be utilized.

8. Result

Result will be based on the data collected and measured. However, results from secondary research reveals that the democratic leadership, transformational leadership and autocratic leadership style have a positive relationship with the organizational performance. Whereas, transactional   leadership, charismatic leadership, and bureaucratic leadership were found to have a negative relationship   with   the   organizational performance.

9. Conclusion

It can be concluded that leadership styles have impact on organizational performance both positive and negative in bank. In order to increase organizational performance it is important to employ that leadership style that have positive impact on organizational performance and avoid that leadership style that has negative impact on organizational performance.
