How has the positive psychology movement influence contemporary psychology and how has it made self concept an important construct in psychology
Positive psychology looks at the positive side of human beings and motivates them to achieve their greatest potential. It strives to guide human beings through personal, professional, institutional, relational areas of human functioning by exerting the best out of them. Thus, it also helps individuals build a positive self-concept about oneself. Self-concept is a phenomenon that explains the beliefs one holds about oneself and from the feedback of others. Thus, in order to function effectively, one needs to have a positive self-concept which would help them develop better place for oneself by engaging, interacting, cooperating and functioning effectively on oneself and along with others.
