Which of the following is true for transcription in E. coli, but not for transcription in humans?

a.

Transcription requires RNA polymerase to add nucleoside triphosphates to the 3' end of the growing transcript (RNA).

b.

Transcription does not require primers during initiation or elongation.

c.

Transcription requires promoters, which have mostly adenines and thymines.

d.

Transcription produces polycistronic mRNA that includes several coding regions within one transcription unit.

Answer #1

Transcription produces polycistronic mRNA that includes several coding regions within one transcription unit. is true for transcription in E. coli, but not for transcription in humans.

polycintronic mRNA means one molecule of mRNA coded for more than one proteins and this is mainly found in prokaryotic cell like bacteria. this is because of prokaryotic system is simpler as compare to eukaryotic system as well as there is no introns in prokaryotic genome so that there is no need of mRNA processing. genetic diversity is less in prokaryotic as compare to eukaryotic cell. that is why polycintronic mRNA is common in prokaryotes.

A Click Submit to complete this assessment estion 10 Which of the following is NOT true of RNA synthesis by RNA polymerase? ORNA synthesis is less processive during elongation than during initiation. Synthesis begins with the polymerase binding two INTP molecules. The polymerase frequently releases the nascent transcript before it reaches 8-10 nucleotides in leng The addition of an INTP to a growing transcript is a magnesium ion-dependent reaction. 1. Which of the following statements concerning transcription of bacterial mRNA is not true? Bacterial mRNA must have intron material removed before it can be used in the process of protein translation.* Energy necessary for transcription is provided by the breaking of phosphate bonds carried by ribonucleotide triphosphates (rNTPs). A sigma factor recognizes the promoter site sequences on the DNA strand during transcription. A guanine-rich sequence on the template DNA molecule causes the growing RNA strand to loop and detach.
