Which elements are required to create a network and
why? (please explain throughly)
Why are protocols important and which do you believe are essential
and why?
Answer: Most of the basic networks are designed to connect users and enable them to access various resources, like the Internet and other systems connected to the network. To configure a network four basic elements are required: Hardware, Software, Protocols, and the connection medium. All data networks comprised of these basic elements, and cannot work without them.
Hardware- It includes routers, network cards, modems, network switches, and Ethernet repeaters. Without this hardware, computers cannot access a network. We can say you cannot configure a network without this hardware. Network cards give the ability to computers direct access to network media and enable them to connect to other peripherals, including routers, switches, modems, and repeaters. Routers and switches allow a single network connection from a modem to be divided between numbers of computers in an organization. Repeaters refresh the network signals between Ethernet cable segments.
Software- In computers, to interaction with hardware-software is essential without this we cannot interact with hardware. To interact with a network, it needs software to give commands. The primary type of networking software is protocols – software that instructs network devices on how they can connect to the network and how to interact with one another. Networking software includes connection monitoring software.
Client Devices- Client devices are the systems and mobile devices connected to the network. This is the essential component of a network, as without clients requiring access the network is essentially pointless. If you are classifying a device as a client device it must be able to connect to the network and utilize it.
Connection Media- It means the medium used to connect the nodes of a network varies with the type of network. A network cannot function without connection. Wired networks will often use network cables while wireless networks make direct connections between network devices using radio signals as the connection medium.
B- Networks protocols are sets of rules that dictate how to format, transmit and receive data so computer network devices – from servers and routers to endpoints – can communicate in spite of the differences in their underlying infrastructures, designs or standards. A network protocol defines rules for communication between devices of the network. To send and receive information over the network successfully, devices on both sides of a communication exchange must agree to and follow protocol conventions. Standardized network protocols provide a common language for all network devices. Computers wouldn’t know how to engage with each other without them.
I think TCP/IP is the most important protocol, which is a set of protocols that allows two or more computers to communicate.
SMTP- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is the standard protocol for email service on a TCP/IP network. This provides the ability to send and receive emails.
FTP- It is a standard protocol for transmitting files between computers on the internet over TCP/IP connections.
SSH- This is the most important protocol because it gives users, especially system administrators, a protective way to access a computer over an unsecured network. SSH (Secure Shell or Secure Socket Shell)
POP3- Post Office Protocol 3 is a client-server protocol for receiving e-mails.

Consider the network in Figure. Suppose AS3 and AS2 are running OSPF for their intra-AS routing protocol. Suppose AS1 and AS4 are RIPing for your intra-AS routing protocol. Suppose eBGP and iBGP are used for the intra-AS routing protocol. Initially, assume that there is no physical link between AS2 and AS4. By which protocols do routers 1c, 1d, 3a, and 3c know about the network prefix x?
